Two very different jobs share this album. Tube fence panels are batch work — produced by the trailer-load, jigged for repeatability, priced per panel, and judged on how fast they go in straight. Ornamental driveway gates are the opposite: one-off, drawn to the entry, and judged on how they look from the road and how they behave after ten winters.
The shared engineering problem is movement. A gate is a cantilever that swings, so hinge selection, post embedment and frame stiffness decide whether it still closes squarely in year five, and anything automated adds loading the frame has to carry. Finish is specified for the exposure: hot-dip galvanizing where the steel is going to live in snowmelt and road spray, powder coat where appearance leads and the assembly can be maintained.
